Skillz Defined 8!

Hello!  Ann Norton here!
(i'm the awesome one in the middle between my friends Mandesia and Mandy)

Saturday evening myself & a few other CRAVErs experienced some spectacular breakdancing at Skills Defined 8 hosted by the super awesome youth leadership council at WAPI. It was the 8th annual competition they've thrown for tobacco prevention awareness. It was pretty tight.

There was even some female breaker presence, which was very refreshing to see in such a male dominated arena. When it comes to living a healing lifestyle, food and being active go hand in hand. These dancers literally glowed. Their smiles & faces, (it wasn't just the sweat). Perhaps the combination of doing what you love and being so in tune with your body has that effect on us humans. B-Boy Mango won the $100 prize. Everyone was hellaaaaaaaa good though. (video credit goes to EL; didn't get to meet him, though he seems like a pretty cool dude)

The venue was Washington Hall on 14th & Fir; a historic, non-profit, community building in the Central District. It holds a lot of energy in its old walls. We met a couple guys from 206Zulu who are throwing a hip hop jam there on July 24th.

& speaking of JAMMMMMMMz, I hope to see you at the CRAVE CommUNITY Art JAM at WAPI on July 16th (this saturday!!). There will be art, an open mic, performers, & yummy radical food.

Thanks for tuning in!  Stay tuned for more and please donate now to support our awesome work!
